Dirk Bader

Dirk Bader

From an early age Dirk immersed himself in the pages of Vogue bought from his allowance savings. He has always strived to be part of this world of imagery, fashion and glamour, so his first step after school was studying design.

It was only after graduating as a communication designer that Dirk focused on photography, learning from the very best: assisting legendary photographer David LaChapelle for three years before working alongside Peter Lindbergh, Albert Watson and Patrick Demarchelier, among others.

Having been trained in analog photography along those legends, his impeccable lighting, certainly, is a direct consequence of those early years. Moreover, his sensible use of color and careful composition can be traced back to his defining years in New York. This, naturally led him to beauty photography, where the ultimate goal is nothing short of perfection and sensibility. It is this search for perfection which drives Dirk to consistently work harder to get “that image” which has it all.

His admiration for classical paintings is perceptible in his work. He believes in approaching each project individually, finding the visual language it needs to express and speak to its audience, while still letting his own artistic DNA shine through. This is reflected in the wide range of clients he has attracted around the world.

His work has been published in magazines like Vogue (India, Arabia, Mexico), Harper's Bazaar, Elle, L’Officiel and more. His commercial clients include Grey, Saatchi & Saatchi, Leo Burnett, Procter & Gamble, Braun, Gillette, Pantene Pro-V, Astor, Head & Shoulders, Oral-B and many others.

Dirk is a five times ADC Global Awards and Prix de la Photographie Paris winner. With his personal work he had his first art show at the Leica Gallery Salzburg in 2017.
